Education Empowerment Program

Why focus on Educating a child?

Access to high-quality education has been a significant barrier to economic growth for Uganda’s poorer populations, particularly those located in rural and peri-urban areas. It is obvious that education is a key component of any nation-building effort, and any barriers to accessing it are likely to have serious negative effects on society. As many as 30% of girl students drop out of school by the time they reach primary seven as a result of economic inequality and the deeply ingrained patriarchal mind-set in our society. By the time they reach Primary 7, the figures worsen and up to 57% of kids drop out. A significant portion of the population is denied access to education, which denies them the chance to improve the economic and social well-being of society. Empowering citizens assures that women and girls have control over their life, are able to actively participate in social, political, and economic spheres, and will possess the knowledge, abilities, and confidence to be better parents, employees, and citizens.
